SBP Announces Three-Day Holiday for Eid-ul-Fitr: Public Offices to Remain Closed
With Eid-ul-Fitr just around the corner, the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has officially declared a three-day holiday to mark the occasion. According to the central bank’s announcement, all SBP offices will remain closed from March 31 to April 2, 2025 (Monday to Wednesday) to observe the festive public holidays.
This announcement follows the federal government's decision to grant a three-day holiday for government offices, allowing employees and officials to celebrate Eid with their families. The notification from the Cabinet Secretariat confirmed that the Prime Minister had approved the holidays, emphasizing the significance of this major Islamic festival in Pakistan.
The Significance of Eid-ul-Fitr in Pakistan
Eid-ul-Fitr, also known as the "Festival of Breaking the Fast," is one of the most anticipated Islamic festivals in Pakistan and around the world. It marks the end of Ramadan, the holy month of fasting, during which Muslims abstain from eating and drinking from dawn to sunset. The festival is a time for joy, gratitude, and communal harmony. It encourages Muslims to reflect on their spiritual growth during Ramadan, seek forgiveness, and extend generosity to those in need.
