Pakistan Railways to Run Special Eid Trains with Discounted Fares
Pakistan Railways is set to launch four special trains to accommodate the surge in travelers during Eid ul Fitar, Railways Minister Hanif Abbasi announced on Monday.
Speaking to the media outside Parliament House in Islamabad, Abbasi also revealed a 20% fare discount for passengers traveling during the festive period.
With millions heading back to their hometowns for Eid, transport demand soars. While private transport services often increase fares, trains remain a preferred choice for families due to their affordability and comfort.
Revised Ramadan Reservation Timings
In a separate development, Pakistan Railways adjusted working hours for reservation offices across the country during Ramadan.
As per the updated schedule (effective from February 28):
Morning shift: 7:30 AM – 12:30 PM
Evening shift: 12:30 PM – 5:30 PM
Single-shift offices: No change in timings
These new hours will stay in place until the 15th of Ramadan, after which regular schedules will resume. This temporary adjustment ensures smoother operations while accommodating passengers and railway staff observing the fast.
